Rapper Nasty Nick was born and raised in Staten Island, New York. At the age of 9 years old Nick was both introduced & intrigued by hip hop. Raised in the Suburbs of NYC, growing up was a bit different for Nick, unlike 90% of his Italian neighbors, Nick was Puerto Rican and Irish so from the very beginning Nick stood out from the bunch, played by his own rules and never fell in with the crowd.
At the age of 18 Nick moved out on his own which definitely set him apart from his peers. As a full time college student with a full-time job it wasn’t always easy to make ends meet during those college years.
The depression, anxiety & responsibility is what really drove Nasty Nick to pursue his musical endeavors. With affiliations to Rapper Foxy Brown since early 2000, it was pretty easy for Nick to get hip to the scence. Foxy Brown was always an inspiration as a artist & Nick loved her persona too. Unfortunately, Foxy suffered hearing loss in the mid 2000’s but her loss had only inspired Nick to create classic hip hop music, as Foxy Brown once did.
Since early as 2008 Nick has been working his way around the underground scene in New York City and was a regular performer at Pyramid’s EOW open-mic night every Sunday. After forming the group D.A.D.T. with Anna Monroe in 2009 – Nasty spent much of much of 2009 and 2010 recording & engineering music for D.A.D.T. what could have been Hip Hop’s next big super group, unfortunately the project never happened and here is what Nasty had to say about that, “Although the project never came to life, it was a great experience, I think you learn the most about yourself from working with other people & I still enjoy working with Anna and she is featured on my album”...
With the release of "Lost in The Shuffle" Nasty took the tri-state by storm performing all over the New York, New Jersey and PA area. Nasty exclaimed, "My album definitely has something for everybody, and yeah, I’m gay, but first – I’m a rapper. That’s always first and foremost. . . It’s been quite the adventure over the past year making this album, pleasure, pain – blood, sweat and tears. I only hope to inspire other people and to create a voice for those of us who don’t have a voice in hip hop so be sure to get your copy on iTunes, keep the momentum going!”
If your wondering what Nasty Nick is up to today, he is enjoying the success of his 1st album and is currently prepping his new project "West Side Story" which will be released on iTunes later in 2013.
